About 35,000 people are at RockNess for the three day festival

A 22-year-old man attending the RockNess music festival on the banks of Loch Ness has died. The man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on Saturday evening, but died there. Police said he had a pre-existing medical condition and became ill shortly after arriving at the festival with a friend. About 35,000 people are attending the event in the village of Dores, which is now in its fourth year. Northern Constabulary said the man who died received medical treatment from paramedics at RockNess and was taken to hospital, where his condition rapidly deteriorated. Event Commander Ch Supt Andy Cowie said: "It is a very sad time for the young man's family and friends and our sympathies are with them at this time." Crime reduction The force also said there had been no major incidents of public disorder, assault or theft but that it had reported several people in connection with supplying drugs. Ch Supt Cowie added: "There have been very few notable incidents and a significant reduction in crime, with almost no thefts. "We are continuing with our robust stance to illicit drugs and this has resulted so far in 121 positive drug searches on and around the site. "There have been eight cases with the successful recovery of dealing quantities of drugs and 12 people will be reported with a number of them appearing from custody." Operations director for the Red Cross Ian Rideout said: "In total it looks like less people have needed help so far than for the same time period last year. We've treated just under 500." The Flaming Lips played on Friday, Basement Jaxx headlined on Saturday and The Prodigy on Sunday.
