A search for a 24-year-old man from Manchester who went missing in the Highlands has been called off after a body was found.

Jonathan Groves was reported missing on Sunday afternoon after he became separated from his walking partner on Ben Alder in Badenoch and Strathspey.

An RAF search and rescue helicopter crew made the discovery at the foot of the mountain on Tuesday.

Northern Constabulary said the body has still to be indentified.

Cairngorm, RAF Kinloss and Lochaber mountain rescue teams along with Northern Constabulary and Tayside Police were involved in the search.

A police spokesman said: "Mr Groves' next of kin are aware of the development. Formal identification and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
