Japanese heavy to take on Scots

A highland games heavyweight champion from Japan is to take on Scots and competitors from all over the world at a city's annual event.

Kengo Kubota, who got interested in caber tossing and throwing the hammer while studying in Glasgow, will compete at July's Inverness Highland Games.

The contest includes the Masters World Championships.

Kubota is believed to be the first Asian games competitor to travel to the Highlands to compete.
