Troops leave fort for Afghanistan

The Black Watch previously served in Iraq

The Black Watch have begun leaving their base in Scotland for the battalion's first deployment to Afghanistan.

About 450 soldiers from 3 SCOTS Royal Regiment of Scotland will spend six months on the tour of duty.

The battalion, which is based at the historic Fort George barracks near Inverness, has previously seen action in Iraq.

It will be stationed in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.
