Primary schools could be merged

Six schools could be merged into three and a new 120-pupil Gaelic school could be built under plans for Lochaber being considered by Highland Council.

It has been proposed to amalgamate Fort William and Upper Achintore primaries at Upper Achintore or on a new site.

Caol and Banavie primaries could be merged on the Caol site or at a new location under the plans.

Two Roman Catholic primary schools could also be amalgamated. The mergers could help the council save money.
