Man accused of officer murder bid

A 28-year-old man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a police officer.

William Macrae, of Alness, appeared in private at Dingwall Sheriff Court. He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

He also faces a charge of committing the offence while on bail.

His appearance followed an incident on Thursday when two stationary police cars were damaged by a 4x4 on the A835 Tore to Maryburgh road.

Mr Macrae was expected to appear in court again next week.
