Food and drink winners announced

A business specialising in garlic was among the winners

The winners of the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards have been announced.

Honours went to businesses specialising in cakes, garlic and fish and from the Highlands, Moray and Northern Isles.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Friday night.

Hazel Gordon, Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Forum chairwoman, said the awards aimed to encourage high standards and innovation.

She added: "We also hope all the winners, who really have come from near and far, go on to further benefit from the profile their awards bring with them."

Paul McLaughlin, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink, said: "The Highlands and Islands are an important part of the Scottish food and drink industry and the region offers some of the best quality produce in the world."

The winners were:

Best use of local food: The Storehouse, Ross-shire.

Collaboration in supply chains: The Edrington Group, Moray.

Environment award: Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK, Shetland.

Healthier food and drink: Scottish Sea Farms, Highlands, Shetland and Orkney.

Individual contribution: Colin Milne, Wester Ross Fisheries, Ross-shire.

Innovation: REAL Food, Inverness.

New product: Really Garlicky Company, Nairn.

People development: Orkney Fishermen's Society, Orkney.

Restaurant of the year: Captain's Galley, Scrabster.
