Man in court after fatal accident

A man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with the death of a woman in a car crash on the A9 in the Highlands.

Italian Andrea Mancioppi, 28, was accused of causing the death on the road at Inverton on Thursday.

He made no plea, was committed for further examination and released on bail.

Meanwhile, two people were injured - one seriously - in a road accident on the A9 in Easter Ross.

The accident, involving two vehicles, happened near the Westford Junction at Alness at 1530 BST.
