Crowds gather for major farm show

Border collies
Sheep dog displays are a feature of the show

The Black Isle Show - the biggest agricultural event in the Highlands - is underway in Muir of Ord.

It opened on Wednesday with sheep dog displays and horse events, before continuing on Thursday with livestock competitions and entertainment.

The show was also to play an important role in efforts to encourage more young people to take up sheep shearing.

Black Isle is the last of a five-event competition organised by the Scottish Shearing Association.

The association hoped its contest would raise the profile of the labour-intensive trade, which struggled to find new recruits.

Thousands of people attend the show organised by Black Isle Farmers' Society.
