Six young people on a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition in the Highlands have been found safe and well after failing to make their rendezvous as planned.

The three boys and three girls were reported missing in the Monadhliath area, near Inverness, on Thursday. They were traced later the same day.

The youngsters from Durham were last seen in Glen Markie on Tuesday night and were headed for Tomatin.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team escorted the six down from the hills.
