Seabirds may get more protection

Views are being sought on plans to extend land-based special protection areas for seabirds.

A total of 31 sites on the Western Isles could be stretched to about two miles offshore.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) has been commissioned by the Scottish Government to consult with the public on the proposals.

The sites involved are Shiants, Flannan Isles, St Kilda, Sulesgeir and North Rona and Mingulay and Berneray.
