Fire crew strike action suspended

A union representing Highlands and Islands airports fire crews have agreed to suspend industrial action to allow further talks on pay.

Unite had proposed a strike on Friday following a dispute over a 2% pay increase offered by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL).

HIAL said this action has now been suspended.

A strike last Monday closed nine airport sites and disrupted flights from Inverness to the isles.

HIAL said it was not making any further comment at this stage.
