Man charged over street stabbing

A 22-year-old man has appeared in court accused of stabbing to death another man in Inverness.

James MacKenzie, of Inverness, faces a charge of murdering 27-year-old Mark Connor on Saturday.

Mr MacKenzie allegedly committed the offence near to his house in the Merkinch area of the city.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination after appearing in private and on petition at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Mr MacKenzie appeared before Sheriff Derek Pyle before being remanded in custody

Meanwhile, two others also appeared in court in connection with the alleged murder.

Kylie Robertson, 20, and John MacDonald, 25, both of Inverness, were accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Neither made a plea or declaration and were committed for further examination. They were also remanded in custody.

All three will appear in court again next week.
