Village war memorial to be moved

A war memorial in Gairloch, Wester Ross, is to be moved to a new site near the village's Crasg car park following a public survey.

The monument's current site had been deemed unsafe and not easily accessible to the public by Highland Council.

Of 673 consultation cards sent out to villagers, 337 were returned.

The local authority said 284 were in favour of the move, 51 against and two cards were received which offered comment but no preference.
