Award for hand-held battle device

Guides for use on Culloden Battlefield have taken top prize in the Use of Technology category at the Museums and Heritage Awards for Excellence.

The hand-held devices were developed by Inverness-based firm Zolk-C.

They give accounts of the battle fought in 1746, archaeological evidence and sound effects as visitors walk across the moor near Inverness.

The award follows close to the official opening of the site's new 9m visitor centre.
