Trees may die off following blaze

The full extent of damage caused to a community woodland in Wester Ross may not be known for some time.

Laide Wood board of directors had feared all the trees would be lost in a blaze which also threatened neighbouring properties last week.

A number of trees were affected at their bases and may die off at a later date, delaying the overall assessment.

A total of 31 firefighters were involved at the height of the operation to extinguish the fire.
