More isles schools to be closed

Four more schools on the Western Isles are to close following a decision by councillors.

They are two small secondary schools at Paible on North Uist and Lochs on Lewis, and primaries at Cliasmol on Harris and Craigston on Barra.

A decision to shut two small secondary schools at Bayble on Lewis and Daliburgh on South Uist had already been taken.

The final say on the fate of Paible rests with Scottish ministers.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's education department wants to close 11 schools in total and direct the savings made towards building new schools.
