Increase in taxi fares proposed

Views have been sought from the public on planned increases in the maximum rate in the Highlands for taxi fares.

Highland Council said the review of prices had taken into account rising fuel costs, insurance premiums and that the area's fares were among the lowest.

Revised charges include those for Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

The local authority's transport environmental and community services committee has proposed to implement new rates from June.
