Rescue for man hit by falling ice

A man had to be rescued from Ben Nevis after he was struck on the head by falling ice.

The 51-year-old from Cumbria was climbing the left indicator wall of the mountain with another person when he was hit.

Members of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team assisted the climbers and a rescue helicopter from HMS Gannet lifted the casualty from the mountain.

He was taken to Belford Hospital, Fort William for observation.
