Securing World Heritage status for Loch Ness could generate £25m for the economy and 250 jobs within three years, according to new research.
The study was commissioned by Destination Loch Ness, a group made up of businesses associated with the area.
It has made an application to Unesco for the designation, which has previously been awarded to Stonehenge and the islands of St Kilda.
The research was carried out by economists and tourism experts.
The World Heritage list includes 851 sites forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the committee considers have outstanding universal value.
It is compiled by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).
