Highland Council has frozen council tax at last year's levels in setting its budget for 2008/09.
The administration said previously it would freeze council tax
It means the mid range band D bill will stay at £1,163. The £586.6m budget gives the authority an extra £25.6m.
However, savings of £140,000 will have to be made in the coming financial year and a further £210,000 in 2009/10.
In a statement, the council said the savings would be sought through a "further rationalisation" of teaching posts.
