A series of races on penny farthing bicycles are to take place during the Fort William Mountain Festival.

Lochaber provost Alan Henderson and several Highland councillors will battle it out in one of the three races to be held next Wednesday.

Competitors in a ladies event will include Outdoor Capital of the UK project director Anna Trafford and Marian Austin, of Nevis Range.

US mountain bike legend Gary Fisher is to take part in the final race.

The action is scheduled to start at 1700 GMT.

The festival, which opens on Friday, also includes a film competition, lectures, workshops and exhibitions.
