Stretcher pioneer carries off win
Climber and inventor Dr Hamish MacInnes has been honoured for his contribution to mountaineering and mountain culture.

He is the first winner of the inaugural Scottish Award for Excellence in Mountain Culture, part of the Fort William Mountain Festival.

His MacInnes stretcher is used for rescues all over the world, and he designed the first all-metal ice axe.

The festival opens on Friday and includes a film competition, lectures, workshops and exhibitions.
