Talks on golfing on Sundays ban

Golf is not permitted on Sundays out of respect of the Sabbath
Golfers on Lewis in the Western Isles who are forbidden from playing on Sundays are a step closer to overturning the ban.

The Stornoway Trust, which owns the local parkland course, has agreed to meet them to discuss their campaign.

Stornoway Golf Club rents the course for a minimal amount, but wants to break a lease condition which forbids them from playing golf on Sundays.

The restriction was included out of respect for the Sabbath.

The golf club has argued that attitudes have mellowed since the lease was signed.
