Health chiefs unveil smoking ban
NHS Highland premises and grounds will be declared smoking-free areas from New Year's Day.

The health authority said the move was in line with its tobacco policy, and staff, patients and visitors will be asked to comply.

Susan Birse, acting tobacco co-ordinator, said the ban was aimed at improving people's health.

She said research has shown that 70% of smokers want to quit the habit and the move could support their efforts.
