Man charged with woman's murder

A 46-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Inverness.

Francis Flannigan was accused of killing mother-of-two Mary Polus. The 32-year-old's body was found in her home on 17 December.

Mr Flannigan of Blackpark Avenue, Invergordon, made no plea at Inverness Sheriff Court and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear again on 31 December.
