Bridges and otter access on road
A new road in Sutherland features two new bridges and culverts that allow otters to cross under the carriageway and avoid traffic.

The two-mile stretch of the A836 between Melvich and Strathy was upgraded at a cost of £3.4m in a 40-week-long project.

Two bridges have been added, alongside special provision for wildlife.

Melvich Primary School pupils Aaron Mackay and Katrina Mackay helped to officially open the section.
