Four films will get their UK premiers and eight their Scottish premiers at the 5th Inverness Film Festival.

The event, beginning on 15 November, will include Brad Pitt's movie The Assassination of Jesse James and the Coen brothers' No Country for Old Men.

There will also be a screening of the Gaelic film Seachd, which was controversially passed over for an Oscar nomination.

The festival will centre around Eden Court Theatre's two new cinemas.

Festival director Paul Taylor said among his personal highlights during the event will be the screening Ethan and Joel Coen's new film.

'Anti-Gaelic'

Their previous movies have included The Big Lebowski, Fargo and O Brother Where Art Thou?

Mr Taylor said: "They have made some amazing films in the past and this is supposed to be one of the best."

Edinburgh-born film producer Christopher Young resigned from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) because he said they would not put forward his Gaelic film Seachd for a foreign language Oscar nomination.

He said the decision was "explicitly anti-Gaelic".

Bafta said it had considered making a submission on three occasions and stood by its decision.

In a statement, Bafta said it would only submit a film it considered "outstanding".
