Final day of competitions at Mod

The Mod is considered to be Gaelic's "premier" event
The battle for the best waulking song, area choir and choral singing will wrap up the competitions at the Royal National Mod in Fort William.

The festival of Gaelic language, song, arts and culture finishes on Saturday.

Jean Mackay, of Inverness, won the ladies' gold medal and James Graham, from Lochinver, the men's on Thursday.

At stake in the waulking song competition is the Harris Tweed Trophy. The massed choirs - a highlight of the event - will perform on Saturday.

Highland Council will also launch the first Gaelic Christmas album on the same day.

Entitled Duan Nollaig , the CD has been produced by the Mairi Mhor Fellowship and will be released on the Greentrax label.
