Girl, 5, and boys rescued by crew
Two eight-year-old boys and a girl, aged five, have been rescued by a lifeboat crew after becoming stranded on a spit of land by the rising tide.

The youngsters got into difficulty near the pier at South Kessock in Inverness.

Kessock Lifeboat crew were alerted at 1255 BST on Tuesday and were on the scene within six to seven minutes.

The coastguard said members of the team waded into the water up to their waists and carried the youngsters ashore on their shoulders.
