Lewis store scoops lottery grant
A shop which doubles as a post office and filling station in Uig on Lewis has had its future secured through a grant of £281,896.

The Uig Development Trust (UDT) is now set to bring the store into community ownership and plans to equip it with renewable power supplies.

The Big Lottery Fund grant will pay for the acquisition of land and the building of an extension.

Two wind turbines and a heat recovery system are to be installed.

UDT also intends to fit movement activated lighting.
