Call to drive down drinking limit
A breath test machine
Mr Thompson said drink played a major role in Highland accidents
A campaign for a lower drink driving limit has been launched by a Highlands Nationalist MSP.

Dave Thompson has called for it to be reduced from 80mg per 100ml of blood to 50mg.

He said he already had the support of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos).

Mr Thompson said: "In the Highlands we have 25% more accidents where drink is involved than the Scottish average. I thought that was a significant fact."

He added: "It is also the case that one in five accident deaths in Scotland are actually due to drink driving so drink is obviously playing a major factor in the road accident level."
