Franz announce small venue tour
Franz Ferdinand arrive at the NME Awards 2005 at Hammersmith Palais
The band hopes to play new songs on the tour
Rock band Franz Ferdinand have announced a tour of small venues across Scotland.

Despite the group's status as a major international headlining act, they have decided to play gigs on Skye, Shetland and Inverness.

The band will also perform in Stirling, Fort William, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Bassist Robert Hardy said on the band's website that they wanted to redress the fact that they had yet to play in several parts of Scotland.

Hardy wrote: "Although we've played gigs in a lot of places around the world over the last few years there's still towns in Scotland that we haven't played.

"To help redress this we're pleased to announce a short tour of Scotland in September."

The group said they had tried to make as many of the shows for over-14s or 16s as possible.

They plan to perform songs from their next album, which is currently being written in Glasgow.

They will kick off the Scottish tour after playing the Rock'n Coke Festival in Istanbul.

Tickets will go on sale on 28 July at 0900 BST.
