A man who died after being found unconscious at a music festival in the Highlands has been named.

Company director Paul Litterick, 39, from Dundee, was discovered in his car by a member of the public at the Rock Ness event just after midnight.

More than 35,000 fans enjoyed baking summer temperatures on the shores of Loch Ness at the start of the event.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said Mr Litterick's death did not appear to be suspicious.

Police investigation

Ambulance staff tried to resuscitate him at the scene and he was subsequently transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

"Unfortunately the man died shortly after his arrival at Raigmore Hospital," the force said in a statement.

"A full police investigation is being carried out.

"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage."

The police spokesman earlier said seven people were arrested for a variety of offences during the first day of the event, including three under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

About 60 acts will play on five stages at the site during the weekend.

Dance music superstars The Chemical Brothers headlined the main stage on Saturday night, with Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers wrapping up the show on Sunday.
