Missing BBC man 'seen on ferry'

A well-known BBC Gaelic broadcaster who has been reported missing was spotted on a ferry from Stornoway to Ullapool, police have said.

Niall Iain MacDonald, 33, who is about 6ft 1in tall and has a tanned fair complexion was last seen by his family at about 2230 BST on 17 May.

Northern Constabulary said he was seen on the ferry the following morning.

Mr MacDonald is an award-winning BBC television and radio producer and presenter.

Northern Constabulary appealed for information and asked anyone who has seen Mr MacDonald since then to come forward.

He is a past winner of the Radio Personality of the Year at the Celtic Film and Television Festival.

BBC Scotland said: "We are concerned that Niall Iain has not been in touch since last Thursday and are supporting the appeal by Northern Constabulary for any information regarding his whereabouts.

"Niall Iain is a talented, award-winning broadcaster and a popular member of the Gaelic team. His colleagues are hoping he makes contact soon."
