Nessie rises to top of icon poll
The Loch Ness Monster has been chosen as the Highland 2007 Icon.

It follows an online poll which attracted nominations from across the world.

The top six most popular icons chosen by the public were put forward to an online poll on the Highland 2007 Year of Culture website.

Nessie beat off competition from Flora Macdonald, Rob Roy MacGregor, Hugh Miller, Simon Fraser of Lovat and Bonnie Prince Charlie to win.
