Piper to mark battle anniversary
The forces clashed in April of 1746
A performance by a piper will mark the 261st anniversary of the Battle of Culloden on Monday.

Mark Thow will play for an hour - which was how long Jacobite and government forces fought on 16 April, 1746.

Mr Thow will play from 1300 BST at the battlefield's memorial cairn. Culloden is a National Trust for Scotland site.

The battle - the last on British soil - effectively ended Jacobite hopes of restoring the exiled Stuart dynasty to the throne of Britain.
