Research lab post for US expert

A US technology expert has been appointed chief executive of a new research institute in the Highlands.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) intends its Distance Lab to become a world leader in digital media and communications technologies.

Dr Stefan Agamanolis is heading the initiative, which will see research carried out across the region.

The chief executive holds Masters and PhD degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
