Homeless scheme scoops top award
Inverness
The homeless scheme in Inverness has won recognition
A scheme for homeless people sleeping rough on the streets of Inverness has won a Highland Council award.

The Streetwork project, which gives advice and support to homeless people, started a year ago.

It is a collaboration between Highland Council and Nurse Lisa Ross from the city's Homeless Day Centre.

The team will now go forward to be judged in the national quality awards run by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla).

Lisa said: "We had some very stiff competition in the award category of Improving Quality of Life from projects that had already won national awards so we were very surprised and very pleased to win.

"Hopefully we can build on this success and provide more help for people on the streets."

Lisa offers healthcare and first aid when required and referrals to other agencies as appropriate.
