The police have appealed for witnesses
A 29-year-old man has died after being struck by a train on the Inverness to Wick railway line at Alness.

Northern Constabulary said the incident in which Jason Scott Manson, from Buckie, Moray, died happened at about 2130 BST on Friday on a crossing.

An inquiry has begun into the cause of the death, which involved a northbound train.

The police have appealed for witnesses to the incident. A report has been forwarded to the procurator fiscal.
