Troubled college finances studied
Inverness College
The report identified financial management failings at the college
A report into failings at Inverness College has been considered by members of the Scottish Parliament's audit committee.

The report published in July criticised the college management for allowing a deficit of almost £1m to build up.

It also said the Scottish Funding Council should have intervened to offer earlier assistance.

MSPs were recommended to accept the findings, which called for improved staff management and support.

Financial incompetence

The report accused the board and former principal John Little at the college of financial incompetence in failing to control things properly.

Among its recommendations, the committee called for the board and acting principal to improve relationships with staff as a priority.

It also said the SFC should review the operation of the further education development directive, which had been providing support to college management.
