'Significant' spending on Gaelic
The BBC hopes to make a significant increase in investment in Gaelic broadcasting as part of the language's proposed digital channel.

Mark Thomson, the corporation's director general, spoke of the hopes during a visit to the Western Isles.

He said BBC governors had agreed in principle that the service running the digital channel would be under the BBC licence.

Mr Thomson said more money would be spent than at present on Gaelic output.
