A 34-year-old man accused of attempting to murder an American tourist was committed for trial on Friday.
Colin Ross is charged with attacking teacher Marty Mendonca, 57, on a forestry track at Blackfold, by Inverness, on 5 July.
He made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private on petition at Inverness Sheriff Court.
He appeared before Sheriff Alexander Pollock and was fully committed for trial. Mr Ross was remanded in custody.
His alleged victim was taken to Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Her condition was described as serious but stable.
