Scotland football fans are meeting in Aviemore this weekend for a fun event to make up for missing out on a trip to Germany for the World Cup.

The Clan Gathering of the Tartan Army will run until Monday.

Members will take part in a golf tournament, Highland games, carnival and watch the quarter-final matches on Friday and Saturday.

They have extended an invitation to England fans to join them when England play Portugal on Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds of Scotland fans are expected to gather in Aviemore, Badenoch and Strathspey.

Don Lawson, of Badenoch and Strathspey Tartan Army, said it would be a friendly event and he distanced the legions of "true" Scotland fans from recent incidents in Edinburgh and Aberdeen where people wearing England jerseys were attacked.
