Murder inquiry into OAP's death

A 65-year-old man found dead in his home on Saturday was murdered, police have said.

David Linning, who lived alone, was discovered in his house at Vancouver Drive, East Kilbride, at 1020 GMT.

Strathclyde Police said the post-mortem examination meant they had launched a murder inquiry following Mr Linning's death.

Detective Inspector Una Maider, said Mr Linning was last seen at his home early on Thursday afternoon.

She added: "We are therefore keen to speak to anyone, who may have seen him anytime between Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning.

"Officers have been carrying out door to door enquiries in the local area and we have been speaking to local people, trying to gather information which will enable us to move the investigation forward."
