Appeal after boxer dog found in Lanarkshire is put down

Hope the boxer dog
The charity said Hope was in a very poor condition

An animal charity has appealed for information after a dog found wandering the streets in Lanarkshire had to be put down because she was so unwell.

The dog, named Hope, was taken in by an adopter from Wishaw who works with Boxer Welfare Scotland, which re-homes boxers, on Thursday.

She was emaciated and had a large bleeding sore on her right side.

The charity said she was in such a poor condition that recovery would have been impossible.

Lorraine Cumming, from Boxer Welfare Scotland, said: "Hope had been neglected and most likely abandoned after being used to breed several litters of puppies.

"She was extremely underweight and had clearly not been fed properly.

"When the vets looked at her they discovered she had kidney failure and a possible brain tumour. Her health was in such a poor state it was kinder to let her go."

She said anyone who recognised the dog or may have information about her owner should call Boxer Welfare Scotland or e-mail boxerwelfarescotland@hotmail.co.uk
