Police have launched an investigation after a 38-year-old man was found seriously injured in the east end of Glasgow.

Officers said inquiries indicated the man was assaulted in Crowlin Crescent in Cranhill and was found lying in Edinburgh Road at 1810 GMT on Monday.

Detectives were treating it as attempted murder and were keen to speak to two men seen in the area

The injured man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The first suspect was described as white, 5ft 10ins, in his 30s, with short dark hair, of skinny build, and wearing dark tracksuit bottoms.

The second man was white, wearing black clothing and shorter than the other.

'Busy area'

Det Sgt David Scott, who is leading the investigation, said: "I would appeal to anyone who can help us identify the two men seen in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

"The man was found lying injured in Edinburgh Road near Carntyne Road, which is a very busy area with lots of traffic.

"I would urge any motorists or passengers in vehicles, including bus passengers, who may have seen the injured man to contact us."
