'Witch mask' robber in shop raid

A man wearing a Halloween witch mask has escaped with thousands of pounds in cash after a raid on a bookmakers in Barlanark just outside Glasgow.

The robber entered Victor Chandler's in Hallhill Road at about 1820 GMT on Monday.

He threatened staff and claimed to be armed with a gun, however no firearm was seen.

Police appealed for anyone who may have seen the man without his mask before or after the robbery to contact them.

Detective Con Allan Glasgow from Strathclyde Police said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw a male at or near the bookmakers shortly after 6pm on Monday night. He may have put the mask on just before entering the premises and may also have removed it on leaving.

"I would urge anyone who saw this man or knows of his identity to contact the CID at Shettleston Police Office."
