A man has been treated for smoke inhalation after a firework shot through an open high-rise flat window. Firefighters were called to the flats in Whiteinch, Glasgow, just before 2100 GMT after neighbours reported smoke. The man was treated at the scene. Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said it was believed a child fired the missile from the ground 90ft (27m) below. Strathclyde fire crews attended a total of 612 incidents on Thursday - four times the normal daily average. 'Unguided missile' One crew came under attack from youths with fireworks at Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire as they tried to put out a fire in a house. Police were called and no-one was injured. Following the incident in Whiteinch, a Strathclyde Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "This rocket was a dangerous, unguided missile. "This is yet another grim reminder of the danger that fireworks can pose when they are in the wrong hands. "The occupant of the flat was lucky that this piece of bonfire night entertainment did not cause much more harm to him and his home."
