Man struck by unmarked police car

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked down by an unmarked police car in Glasgow.

The incident happened on Union Street in the city centre shortly after 1100 BST on Thursday.

The man sustained a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Hospital staff have described his condition as "critical".

Strathclyde Police said a full inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident was currently ongoing.
